Dr. Alison Reed grew up in Anderson, South Carolina. She received her bachelor's and master's degrees from Clemson University—Go Tigers!—before moving to the University of Georgia to complete her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. She graduated in 2011 and joined Lake Hickory Veterinary Hospital in 2012. Dr. Reed’s main veterinary interests are surgery, anesthesia, and pain management, and providing high quality preventative care. Having a chance to build relationships with clients and their pets is one of her favorite parts of the job.

Outside of work, Dr. Reed sings in the Hickory Choral Society and has been an active member of the Hickory Jaycees. She is an avid college football fan and loves cooking, reading, hiking, and travelling. You will likely see her three dogs, Scout, Reesie, and Oreo, around the clinic. She also has four cats, who prefer to remain at home.

Dr. Jason Hefner graduated from North Carolina State University with a bachelor’s degree in criminal science and a doctorate degree in 2012. He started out working with large animals in surrounding counties before moving to Lake Hickory in 2019 to focus on small animal medicine.

In his free time, Dr. Hefner enjoys camping with his family and is an active member of his church. He has a wife, Millie, and two children, Will and Iris.
